I am informing you today that I have taken the decision to withdraw from this year's Festival at Cliff College, which is taking place over the last weekend of May, for pastoral reasons. This decision has been made prayerfully and I have communicated the reasons for it directly with the college principal and with the General Secretary of the Methodist Church, but the decision does not relate to any moral or spiritual issue in my own life or ministry. I have a brief statement of explanation available for those with a genuine reason to know more but in order to support the individuals concerned and the life and ministry of Cliff College, it is only available upon request. I continue to appreciate and value the ministry of Cliff College and of the Methodist Church itself and assure all of those involved in the Festival of my prayers for this year's event.
